I think it's a shame that there's nothing at all left of his electrical motif in this model. The original set had red and blue wires going to each arm, a booster switch on the back, and lots of lightning bolts. In contrast, this model leaves out all of those things except the blue wires, which without the red ones end up looking more like tubes filled with some kind of fluid.
The upper leg design is nice and streamlined, which is what I like to see in a MOC at this scale, and I like the creative foot design. But overall, in spite of being so heavily customized, this model just ends up feeling rather generic, without a whole lot of unifying themes or motifs to give it a sense of unique personality.
I gathered the red and blue meant the positive and negative charges, but the red looked too bright for the gunmetal-purple mix, if it would have been crimson, that would have been fine. That's why I preferred the blue tubes, and here it serve two purposes, channels the electricity and keeps the fluid pumping too. So Voltix is now not working with alternating current but with direct current, like a radio. As for the lighting pieces I found them a more fitting use, then just showing showing off on his back, but that MOC is still under construction.
